The latest Pokémon TCG expansion draws its inspiration from Pokémon GO with artwork that captures Pokémon in a real-world setting.
Pokémon GO players know the thrill of encountering and catching a Shiny Pokémon. You'll be able to experience the same thrill in the Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO expansion with the return of Radiant Pokémon. These alternately colored Shiny Pokémon are so extraordinary, they’re limited to just 1 per deck. Each is a Basic Pokémon, so if you can find it and get it into play, it’ll instantly reward you with its powerful attack and Ability.
As you browse through cards from the Pokémon GO expansion, you might find one or two Pokémon that look a little…suspicious. Look closer, and you might find a clue—it’s Ditto! Just like in Pokémon GO, Ditto has transformed into many different Pokémon in an attempt to stay hidden. If you find one of these suspicious cards with a Ditto icon, peel away the top layer (like a sticker!) to reveal this tricky Pokémon’s disguise and harness its power.
Pokémon GO Trainers will recognize familiar Items like Egg Incubators and Lure Modules in the Trainer cards. Just like in Pokémon GO, these Items can prove strategically useful, so don’t forget to include them in your deck.
The new expansion features photorealistic art that captures the wonder and humor of seeing Pokémon in the real world. From Pokémon enjoying the bucolic beauty of a rural setting to Pokémon making the most of city living, these cards feature fun, entertaining art.
Watch out! Blastoise is preparing to launch a wily Ambipom into battle. Blastoise’s Vitality Spring Ability ends your turn but is the perfect refreshment for Ambipom, attaching up to 6 Energy cards from your deck to any of your Pokémon. You can power up Ambipom while it’s getting a little rest and relaxation on the Bench, or in a pinch, Ambipom’s Primate Dexterity Ability has a 50/50 chance of preventing all damage done to Ambipom by attacks. Then, Ambipom will be ready to get to work with Full Tilt Fling, flipping a coin for each attached Energy and doing 60 damage for each heads.
If you move Golisopod into the Active Spot during your turn, it makes a fearsome First Impression, doing 110 damage! Its Retreat Cost of normally means that using First Impression to the full extent again would take multiple turns and Energy attachments, but check your collection for Air Balloon, because you could be repeating First Impression each turn with ease.
